Leon Bridges has released his most daring project yet—a collaborative album titled Happiness Anytime with British trio Jungle. Rather than continuing in the soul-revival vein that made him famous, Bridges uses his distinctive voice as a textural instrument within Jungle's expansive, groove-based soundscapes, marking a significant departure from his previous song-oriented approach. This collaboration demonstrates his willingness to challenge himself and move beyond the retro-aesthete characterisation that has long dogged his career.

The album, featuring Jungle members Tom McFarland, Josh Lloyd-Watson and Lydia Kitto, employs extended grooves and broad musical landscapes instead of the tightly focused song structures Bridges has previously favoured. Standout tracks like "Illusion" showcase Bridges stretching his voice across new tonal ranges, whilst "Talk It Over" creates emotional impact through call-and-response rhythms and soaring organ arrangements rather than conventional narrative. However, some tracks such as "Your Love is Electric" and "Please Don't Say Goodbye" risk sounding like ambient café music, though this limitation reflects a broader tension in how Bridges' work is often perceived as superficial style rather than substantive artistry.
