Liz Truss was pictured at a dinner at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort on the night Democrats made major gains in the 2026 US midterm elections. Her appearance alongside Trump supporters and a Polish politician drew attention as Republicans lost control of both chambers of Congress.

Truss posed with a copy of a book by Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński, whom she had backed after he was barred from entering the UK to speak at a rally. The visit came soon after she published a book blaming the Bank of England and pension funds for the market turmoil that followed her 2022 mini-budget, which included £45 billion in unfunded tax cuts. She said she took “not very much” responsibility for the spike in borrowing costs that preceded her resignation after 49 days as prime minister.
