Lost John Coltrane Recordings The Tiberi Tapes Released for First Time Ever
Previously unreleased John Coltrane recordings, kept in a private collection for 65 years, are being issued for the first time as *The Tiberi Tapes*. The release marks what would have been the jazz musician’s 100th birthday and offers listeners a chance to hear performances that document his musical development.
The standard editions contain 11 tracks recorded by saxophonist Frank Tiberi at clubs in Philadelphia and New York in the early 1960s. A limited special edition includes more than 100 performances across nearly 26 hours, on a custom USB drive, and is limited to 750 copies; it is due to ship in early 2027. The recordings were captured on a basic consumer recorder, and the release is part of the global COLTRANE 100 celebration.
