MacBook Neo outperforms Dell XPS 13 in Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark—though I wouldn’t recommend gaming on either notebook

PC Gamer ·

A benchmark comparison found that Apple’s $699 MacBook Neo ran Cyberpunk 2077 slightly faster than the similarly priced Dell XPS 13, despite using an A18 Pro chip derived from Apple’s phone hardware. The result highlights that low-cost laptops can handle some demanding games, but the performance remains too limited for either machine to be recommended as a serious gaming notebook.

The MacBook Neo loaded the game in just under 41 seconds and averaged almost 20 frames per second, compared with 55 seconds and 16 fps for the Dell; the XPS could not run the game at Ultra settings. Both models had 8GB of RAM, while the Dell used an Intel Core 5 320 processor. Earlier testing achieved 30 fps on the MacBook only at 720p, Low settings and performance-mode upscaling, compromising image quality; the Dell instead offers a 13-inch 120Hz OLED display with wider P3 colour support.

  • MacBook Neo slightly beat Dell XPS 13 in Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Neither laptop offers enjoyable performance for demanding games.
  • Dell has the stronger display, despite lower game frame rates.
