Meet Mori, a Cute Robot Mushroom That Doesn’t Really Say (or Do) Anything

Wired ·

OKA, a startup operating in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Shenzhen, has introduced Mori, a nearly 12-inch robot lamp designed as a calming home companion. It responds to people and activity in the room, plays nature sounds and guides breathing exercises, while deliberately avoiding the practical tasks of a voice assistant.

The Founder's Edition costs $649 and includes two years of subscription features and a warranty; only a few hundred are available. The standard edition costs $799, but does not include subscription features such as nature soundscapes. Mori uses a camera, microphones and local language models to interpret its surroundings, remember familiar people and stay quiet during situations such as phone calls.

In short

  • Mori is a reactive robot lamp built for calm and companionship.
  • Its Founder's Edition costs $649 and includes two years of subscription features.
  • The $799 standard edition excludes those features.
