New ‘Game of Thrones’ Release Promises to Stun With Its Epic Scale
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, a forthcoming PC real-time strategy game from PlaySide Games, will show its first gameplay footage at Gamescom Opening Night Live on 25 August. The reveal matters because the game aims to translate the franchise’s vast wars, shifting alliances and fantasy elements into large-scale player-controlled battles.
Players will choose among forces including the Starks, Lannisters, Targaryens and the Night King’s army, led by figures such as Jon Snow, Tywin Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen. Alongside conventional troops, the game will feature dragons, giants and undead units, diplomacy, alliances and multiplayer; an early example showed Jon Snow joining the Night King to attack King’s Landing.
