New Texas senator-elect James Talarico makes surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live during yet another sketch mocking Trump

Texas senator-elect James Talarico made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live days after winning a seat for Democrats in a state that had not elected a Democratic senator for 38 years. The sketch mocked Donald Trump and the Democrats’ recent election gains, while Talarico’s appearance drew a strong audience reaction.

Talarico won 55.09 per cent of the vote, defeating Republican Ken Paxton in a 12-point victory. In the sketch, he joked about his fundraising texts and the show’s recurring “Trump freezers”, while saying he was open to working with the president to improve life for ordinary Americans.
