PARKWAY DRIVE Announces Global Theatrical Release For New Film ‘Home’ Shot at Sydney Opera House
Parkway Drive’s documentary film “Home”, which centres on a one-night performance at the Sydney Opera House, will receive an international cinema release in November. The project captures the Australian metal band taking a major creative risk by reworking its music for a formal concert with a symphony orchestra, showing how it sought to expand expectations of heavy music.
The film opens in selected Australian cinemas on 12 November and in North America on 18 November. Premieres are scheduled in Los Angeles on 15 November and New York on 17 November. The performance was staged for 2,000 seated guests, and the documentary also features frontman Winston McCall rappelling 65 metres from a helicopter onto a platform on the Opera House sails.
In short

- It also features a 65-metre helicopter rappel.
Explained simply
Parkway Drive are an Australian heavy metal band, a style of music built around loud guitars and forceful rhythms. The Sydney Opera House is a major performing arts venue, best known for its sail-shaped roof and its place on Sydney Harbour.
The film centres on the band performing with a symphony orchestra, a large group of musicians who play instruments such as strings, woodwind and brass. Bringing orchestral arrangements into a heavy metal performance changes how the music is heard and presented.
The project matters as an example of a band taking its music into a different kind of venue and performance format. It also offers a record of the one-night event for viewers beyond the people who attended in person.
