Petey USA – “Save For The Horses”
US singer-songwriter Petey has released "Save For The Horses", his third new self-produced single of the year, continuing his run of tracks blending emo, heartland rock and electronic production. The release follows May's "Kiss The City" and the more recent slow-building synth-pop track "Like A Mantra", suggesting a steady stream of new material is building towards a possible future project.
The new song picks the tempo back up while retaining a reflective tone, offering a wry character study of a particular type of self-absorbed man, complete with quirky samples and candid lyrics such as "I think that I'm way smarter than my therapist". Critics have likened its sound to a more Warped Tour-inflected take on the Postal Service, a combination that reviewers say works better in practice than it might sound on paper.
