‘Prince of Persia’ Is Officially Back With New 2026 Release

Collider · 3 hours ago

GOG has released a modernised, fan-made-style patch for the original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, offering PC players a technical refresh just months after Ubisoft cancelled its planned remake of the game in January 2026. The move gives fans a way to revisit the influential 2003 title, whose wall-running, time-manipulation and combat mechanics shaped many later Ubisoft games, with improved compatibility on modern systems.

The GOG update (version 181, GOG v2) adds native widescreen and ultrawide support, an in-game overlay with an FPS limiter, automatic field-of-view adjustment, and a lightweight compatibility wrapper, and the release is now Windows 11 verified. GOG is also selling Sands of Time at a discounted price of $2.99, down roughly 70% from its usual $9.99, with the offer running until 23 August.
