Replit chief says ChatGPT is now Agent’s preferred default amid Anthropic dispute
Replit chief executive Amjad Masad said the company is no longer working with Anthropic, citing cost, performance and partnership considerations. OpenAI’s ChatGPT is now the preferred default for Replit Agent, a change that could reduce Anthropic’s business with the coding platform.
Anthropic models remain available for users to choose, and Replit says it is still model-agnostic. The account is disputed: people familiar with the partnership said it remained in place, while Replit materials from late September referred to Anthropic models in production. Masad also said enterprise contracts grew from 2% of revenue last year to 15% this year, with more than half of revenue coming from business customers.
