Samsung unveils clip-on Galaxy Buds On with open-ear design
Samsung has announced the Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on, open-ear wireless earbuds, designed to stay secure without sealing the ear canal. The launch adds Samsung to a growing field of makers offering open-ear headphones, with the company emphasising comfort, fit and reduced sound leakage.
Samsung says it used data from more than 119 million ear scans to inform the fit and gives the earbuds an IP54 water-resistance rating. They offer up to 9.5 hours of music playback, or 38 hours with the charging case, and include three microphones, head-gesture controls and Galaxy phone features. The Buds On are due in early November 2026 for $229.
In short
- Samsung’s first clip-on, open-ear earbuds launch in November.
- They are rated for up to 38 hours with the case.
- The Galaxy Buds On will cost $229.
Explained simply
Wireless earbuds come in different designs. Many sit in or seal the ear canal, while open-ear models rest around the outer ear and leave the canal open. Clip-on designs use a small clasp to hold each earbud in place.
Samsung makes Galaxy phones and other consumer electronics, and its Galaxy Buds are its range of wireless earphones. Other headphone makers also sell open-ear models, as some listeners prefer to hear sounds around them while listening to audio. The design can suit different needs and preferences, so fit and sound quality vary by person and product.
