‘Saw’ Franchise’s Darren Lynn Bousman To Direct Psychological Thriller ‘Serpentine’

Darren Lynn Bousman, known for directing four films in the Saw franchise, will direct Serpentine, a psychological thriller from Dream State Studios and Brand in Entertainment. The project gives him a chance to work beyond horror while retaining elements of dread and intensity.

Set in a quiet New England town, the story follows a woman trying to escape a dangerous life whose disappearance draws her into a tangle of organised crime, corrupt police, local power struggles and figure skating. Valerie Palencar wrote the film and will produce it through Dream State Studios; Brand in Entertainment chief executive Rolfe J. Auerbach is executive producing. The production plans to fund part of the film through brand partnerships, with products integrated into the story.
