Sean Duffy’s strapping son-in-law, 26, beats AOC to become youngest Congressman
Michael Alfonso, 26, has won Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District and is set to become the youngest member of Congress. His election matters as he takes the title from Democrat Maxwell Frost and becomes the first member of Congress born in the 2000s.
Unofficial results showed Alfonso with 56.1 per cent of the vote to Democrat Clark’s 43.9 per cent, with 79 per cent counted when the race was called. The Republican ran for the seat vacated by Tom Tiffany, and campaigned on affordability, conservative social policies and support for Donald Trump’s agenda. Alfonso is married to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s daughter; Duffy backed his campaign, which also benefited from $1 million transferred from his former campaign account to a supporting political action committee.
