Several European flights receive bomb threats, some divert
Several commercial flights across Europe diverted or received military escorts after bomb and security threats, causing disruption across multiple airports. Authorities activated security measures and checked aircraft, although the threats reported earlier in the week had proved to be hoaxes.
An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome landed safely at France’s Evreux airbase after being escorted there by the air force. Other flights made unscheduled landings in Vienna, Sofia and Plovdiv, while flights to Rome and Brussels landed amid security alerts; Czech police also prepared for four threatened aircraft. Officials said they assessed the Czech threats as low risk, and any links between the incidents and separate reported cyberattacks remained unclear.
