Spain’s Impulse Cinema and Italy’s Fandango Forge Strategic Partnership to Boost Co-Production and Sales Opportunities (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 1 hour ago

Spain's Impulse Cinema and Italy's Fandango have agreed a strategic partnership to strengthen Spanish and Italian film production, covering co-production, financing, distribution and international sales. Announced at the Venice Production Bridge, the deal brings together two independent players from Europe's film industry and aims to build a "lasting bridge" between the countries, giving producers stronger backing while helping ambitious projects reach wider international audiences.

Madrid-based Impulse Cinema, led by Andrés Sánchez Pajares and Roberto Butragueño, describes itself as Spain's first large-scale integrated indie studio, spanning the full value chain from development financing to worldwide sales, and has secured €8 million (about $9.3 million) in NextGenerationEU funding via the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation. Fandango, founded by Domenico Procacci in 1989, has produced more than 100 films and is present at this year's Venice festival with five titles, including two in competition. Under the agreement, Impulse will also act as a partner in international distribution alongside Fandango Sales, with both companies' leadership framing the tie-up as a response to the need for new collaborative models in European independent cinema.
