‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Stays in Full Swing Atop U.K., Ireland Box Office as ‘The Odyssey’ Continues Voyage

Variety · 3 hours ago

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" topped the U.K. and Ireland box office for a fifth consecutive weekend, earning £2.7 million ($3.7 million) and pushing its 27-day total to $125.5 million. Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" held second place for a seventh straight week, while Sony's "Insidious: Out of the Further" came third in its second weekend, and Altitude's "Coyote vs. Acme" placed fourth. The rankings reflect a market still dominated by holdovers, with only one new title cracking the top five.

Disney's "The Dog Stars," starring Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin, debuted in fifth with $1.4 million, while Warner Bros.' "The End of Oak Street" and a 25th-anniversary reissue of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" filled sixth and seventh. In specialised release, Mubi's "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" posted a strong second-weekend hold, taking its cumulative gross past $980,000. Looking ahead, the coming week brings wide releases including "The Death of Robin Hood" and "Leviticus," plus reissues of "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," several "Hunger Games" films and "Cars."
