Spike Lee and Mick Jagger’s Favorite Eyewear Brand Unveils First Collection From New Creative Directors John Juniper and Jeff Solorio
Morgenthal Frederics has unveiled its first collection under new creative directors John Juniper and Jeff Solorio, founders of luxury eyewear label DITA. Their Fall/Winter 2026 debut, launching on 15 October, updates the century-old New York brand’s design direction while retaining the handcrafted buffalo horn frames that helped make it distinctive.
The collection broadens the label’s Japanese acetate and titanium ranges with sculptural shapes, intricate metalwork and details such as purple temple tips. Japanese artisans made the frames with hand-etched surfaces and custom accents. Morgenthal Frederics dates back to 1913 and has been worn by celebrities including Spike Lee, LeBron James and Mick Jagger; the new collection costs $795 to $2,995 and will be sold in boutiques and online.

Morgenthal Frederics is a New York eyewear brand founded in 1913. It is known for handcrafted frames, including styles made from buffalo horn, and has been worn by public figures such as Spike Lee, LeBron James and Mick Jagger.
John Juniper and Jeff Solorio founded DITA, another luxury eyewear label, before taking on creative direction at Morgenthal Frederics. Their work sits within a wider tradition of luxury eyewear, where materials, hand-finishing and distinctive design are central to a brand’s identity.
The label’s collections include frames made with Japanese acetate and titanium, as well as buffalo horn. Its long history and high prices place it in the premium end of the eyewear market.
