Netflix's coming-of-age drama Heartstopper is coming to a close with the release of Heartstopper Forever, a two-hour film that serves as the final chapter of the LGBTQIA+ young adult adaptation. The film, shot at the historic Bray Studios near London, wraps up the story of Alice Oseman's popular webcomic and graphic novel, marking an emotional milestone for both the cast, including Kit Connor and Joe Locke, and creator Oseman, who has worked on the project since 2016.

The series, which debuted in 2022 and ran for three seasons, followed teenager Charlie Spring as he navigated school, mental health and a romance with Nick Nelson, becoming a major Netflix Top 10 hit along the way. Oseman, who began the webcomic aged 17 after securing a six-figure publishing deal and later ran a successful 2018 Kickstarter for the graphic novel, described the near-decade-long project as spanning most of their twenties, while executive producer Patrick Walters reflected on how the team's growing experience shaped the final production compared with the show's earlier, more uncertain beginnings.
