Tributes paid after death of Television guitarist Richard Lloyd: “A seeker and finder and a true inspiration”
Richard Lloyd, Television’s guitarist and co-founder, has died aged 75 at his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after a battle with bile duct cancer. Fellow musicians and the band paid tribute to his influence and guitar playing, remembering him as an inspiration.
Born in Pittsburgh in 1951, Lloyd helped form Television in 1973 and played on their landmark 1977 album *Marquee Moon*, whose intricate guitar parts helped define the band’s sound and the emerging New York punk scene. He later released solo records, reunited with Television in the 1990s and left the group in 2007; he is survived by his wife Sheila and son Dylan.
