Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, the iconic detective duo from HBO's True Detective, are reuniting for a new Apple TV comedy series called Brothers. The pair, who built their chemistry through two films together before True Detective and have maintained a long friendship, will play fictionalized versions of themselves exploring their lives as actors, fathers, and in McConaughey's case, a rancher. The project capitalises on their well-documented chemistry and real-life connection, which audiences clearly embraced during the first season of True Detective.

The new comedy series, created by Lee Eisenberg (The Office, Jury Duty), takes place in Texas and follows Harrelson visiting McConaughey's ranch after his daughter's wedding falls apart. The plot involves McConaughey's mother revealing that the two men might actually be brothers, prompting Harrelson's character to obsess over discovering the truth, whilst McConaughey's character navigates a midlife crisis and contemplates running for Governor of Texas. The first two episodes premiere on Apple TV on 23 September 2026, with subsequent episodes airing weekly on Wednesdays, concluding with the season finale on 4 November 2026.
