Tyler Perry Studios Launches New Specialty Label ‘Maxscene,’ Named After His Mother Maxine

Variety · 4 hours ago

Tyler Perry Studios has launched Maxscene, a specialist label intended to create more theatrical distribution opportunities for filmmakers with distinctive voices. Named after Perry’s mother, Maxine, the division is designed to support independent creators who may struggle to get their films seen, reflecting Perry’s stated aim of paying forward the encouragement he received from her.

Antoinetta Stallings, Tyler Perry Studios’ head of development and acquisitions, will oversee Maxscene. Stallings said the label will offer filmmakers resources, support and a route to distribution, with the goal of helping them build sustainable careers rather than securing a single release; the Atlanta-based studio has already produced dozens of feature films and thousands of hours of television.
