U2 celebrate 50th anniversary with surprise concert outside their former Dublin school
U2 marked their 50th anniversary with a surprise concert outside Mount Temple school in Dublin, where the band formed in 1976. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr performed for pupils and staff, revisiting the place where Mullen’s noticeboard message seeking bandmates began the group’s story.
The six-song set included ‘I Will Follow’, ‘Vertigo’, ‘Beautiful Day’, ‘Out of Control’, the live debut of new single ‘Silencio’ and ‘One’. The performance followed news of U2’s forthcoming album, Carnaval de Luz, due on 13 November, which will feature Dolly Parton’s final recorded vocal.
