Vast Beatles museum, hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by Paul McCartney, to open in Liverpool in 2028

Liverpool plans to open a four-times-larger Beatles Story museum in 2028, in a disused former shopping centre near Lime Street station. The project will bring the attraction under the official ownership of Apple Corps and add a separate Yellow Submarine-themed experience in the city’s 450ft St Johns Beacon.
The museum is intended as a multi-hour journey through the band’s story, with recreated settings from Liverpool, Hamburg, Abbey Road, Shea Stadium and their final rooftop concert. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr welcomed the plans, while a new charity will receive part of ticket revenue to support local musicians. The project involves Apple Corps, Liverpool City Council and the combined authority, with UK government support; financial details have not been disclosed.
- Liverpool’s Beatles Story will move to a much larger site in 2028.
- Apple Corps will also turn St Johns Beacon into a Yellow Submarine attraction.
- A share of ticket income will support local musicians.
