Andrew Hastie unleashes at Pauline Hanson after her cartoon mocked fellow veteran Jacqui Lambie’s medical condition: ‘Hypocrite’
Liberal MP and SAS veteran Andrew Hastie has backed independent senator Jacqui Lambie after a One Nation cartoon mocked her prolapse, calling it “cheap, vulgar and nasty”. He said Pauline Hanson’s response was hypocritical, pointing to her anger over a joke about mining executive Gina Rinehart.
Lambie disclosed that a vaginal and bladder prolapse, which she said followed an army-related back injury, required surgery and five months’ leave. The cartoon featured her discussing the condition while criticising a proposed digital duty of care for online content; Hanson defended it as satire and told Lambie to “lighten up”. Labor’s Tim Ayres, independent MP and doctor Monique Ryan, and Minister for Women Katy Gallagher also condemned the video.
