Retiring Serrano wants to end as a ‘game-changer’
Amanda Serrano says she wants to be remembered as a “game-changer” as she prepares for her final fight, defending her unified featherweight titles in Puerto Rico. The bout gives the seven-division world champion a farewell in front of her home supporters and a chance to end a long career on her own terms.
Serrano, 38, will face Australia’s Skye Falzon in San Juan on 9 January; Serrano has a record of 50 wins, four losses and one draw, with 32 knockouts, while Falzon is 12-2 with seven knockouts. Serrano is also pursuing the women’s knockout record, which she shares with Christy Martin, but says her priority is to enjoy the fight. She previously helped make boxing history as Puerto Rico’s only undisputed champion and by competing in a women’s world-title bout over 12 three-minute rounds.
