‘The Office’ U.K. Actress Lucy Davis Reveals “Incurable” Breast Cancer Diagnosis

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

Lucy Davis, best known for playing Dawn Tinsley in the original British version of The Office, has revealed she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and that the disease is now "incurable". The actress shared the news in an Instagram post, urging fans to attend regular checkups after recalling how she initially dismissed a small, hard spot rather than a clear "lump" before getting it examined.

Davis said she was diagnosed a year and a half ago after the cancer had metastasised to her bones, specifically her spine, right hip and ribs, and that it is now too late for chemotherapy. She described ongoing pain and mobility issues, including sometimes needing a wheelchair, but said she is trying to make the most of the time she has left and has found "teachable moments" in the experience. Davis starred alongside Martin Freeman in The Office UK's three-season run, with her character Dawn later serving as the inspiration for Jenna Fischer's Pam Beesly in the US version.
